So I remember well Kelly telling me that she was pregnant again. At first, I thought she was kidding, because they had been trying for a while, and if you know them at all you know that’s just what they do! I remember being really excited for them both. That kind of excited that fills you up from head to toe. I think a lot of it was because I knew there would be another baby to squish and love, because I knew I certainly wouldn’t be having another one. So, the more babies, the better of course. And with Kelly being everything but my sister by blood, it meant the world to me. Because her son Landon, I consider him my nephew, so this pretty much means I was getting another niece or nephew! And then she found out it was a GIRL!! Which of course, if you have boys, you know how exciting it is to find out you are pregnant with a girl. With all the excitement of a new pregnancy always comes a bit of nerves, as you move through the trimesters, making sure nothing goes wrong. Thankfully, her pregnancy was smooth sailing.

And then I got the phone call. AHHHH that exciting phone call. I still get goosebumps just typing the words. She was in labor. I remember thinking that entire month that I was going to miss it, that we were going to be gone at a volleyball tournament and I wasn’t going to get to smell her sweet new baby smell and hug my best friend as she brought that new life into the world. But we were home! So while mommy was in the hospital bringing the sweet baby sister into the world, we got to hang out with Landon to pass the time. It is funny how our memory works. I distinctly remember us taking a special trip to McDonalds, playing, eating and talking about how Landon was going to be the BEST big brother in the whole wide world.

It wasn’t long after that we got the phone call. Maggie was here. Born around 5:30am on February 25th, 2013 at 7lbs 13 oz. She was sweet and beautiful before she ever arrived, but seeing her and holding her made it all the more real. She was absolutely the most precious girl.
