Heroes4Maggie – Maggie Is In The Hospital

Heroes4Maggie – We hope that you have been following Maggie’s story here . If not, please do! We want you to watch her grow and love and succeed. We want you to see just how precious this little girl is — but also, just how much this little girl needs your help.

Heroes4Maggie

As you may know, we have been working hard to get Maggie a wheelchair ramp, which she desperately needs. But right now, there is something more pressing. Little Maggie is in the hospital and she has been for several days now. She has pneumonia. For most of us, Pneumonia would not put us in the hospital for a day, let alone a week. But when a baby has SMA , thier little lungs cannot get rid of the junk like ours do. Thier tiny little muscles do not work the way ours work.

So because of that, Maggie has to stay in the hospital on Oxygen and cannot go home until she can breathe well without it. And even with ALL of that, this little girl is still smiling.

Heroes4Maggie

But her mommy and daddy are a little stressed as you can clearly imagine. Not only are they watching their little girl suffer through breathing with a oxygen tube – they are racking up the medical expenses all while mommy is off work to be with her baby.

So we are calling you all to action, once again, we need your help. I know we all have our own struggles, our own expenses and our own debt. But nothing we are going through compares to what this family has to go through every single day.

We stop at the gas station and grab a $2 coffee, or even Star Bucks and grab a $7 coffee. We stop at a fast food joint and don’t bat an eye at spending $20-$30 on a meal. Please take a few of those dollars and spend them here. Make an investment in this babies sweet life. Help Maggie and her mommy and daddy sleep a little better at night knowing that they do not have to worry about the medical expenses.

Don’t forget to follow her journey  here and watch her grow and smile and love.

Thank you ALL for everything you are doing and have done in the past. There really aren’t words to express the gratitude that this family has for all of you.

Heroes4Maggie is a campaign to raise funds to support the needs of an amazing little girl named Maggie, who was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). SMA is a disease that robs children of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe.

Will you be a hero for Maggie?

SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.

It takes on average $240,000 to raise a child from birth to 18 (according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture). For a special needs child like Maggie that amount QUADRUPALS. Your donation will be used to support the immediate cost Maggie’s family faces in providing her with the life that any child deserves, specifically the special transportation needs required with a child fighting SMA. Be a hero for Maggie. – Heroes4Maggie

I’ve never heard of this. It seems so sad that such a young child has to go through this and that it costs so much to help cure. I hope that she gets all the services she needs.

I had never heard of it either, until it happened to her. There are actually worse types than what Maggie has, if you can believe that. We are thankful she is as healthy as she is, but it is still SO very hard to watch your family go through that kind of heartache all of the time!

Its painful to watch such a happy kid going through such pains. Kids are God’s gift and hard to understand why they suffer..May God bless her!

Thank you so much, Priya! It is so very hard to understand, but she is so gifted in other ways. Still very difficult.
